Hey Residents! Bibi here. Amazing things happened this past week Solange prepared a feast! She laid a table, perfect with a menu serving Pride, black girl magic, consciousness, weariness, optimism, angst and healing, after that Solange allowed us a seat at the table.
The 3rd studio album released on the 30th of September took Solange 4 years to finish. She carefully pieced together this modern black and feminine narrative with singles like F.U.B.U that speaks on cultural appropriation, Don’t touch my hair, (my crown, my soul), my personal favorite “cranes in the sky”, taking personal pain and struggle and escaping like a bird in flight. Mad ft Lil Wayne, I got so much Magic ft Kelly…Literally 21 tracks full of Magic.
Her Collaborators are just as impressive, Raphael Saadiq, Q-tip, David Longstreth, Sampha, Quest love, The dream and much more…
Every layered voice, intricate melody, harmonies, the poetry, it’s not something you listen to just once….. it’s a gift that keeps on giving. Daresay I put this album up there along Lauryn Hills Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Solange said she made this album to heal and encourage. I believe she did.
